Wild Things are Happening at the Denver Art Museum!

Experience the fascinating world of Wild Things: The Art of Maurice Sendak now on view at the Denver Art Museum. See over 400 drawings, paintings, posters, and other fun surprises created by one of America’s most beloved storytellers and artists. Don’t miss your chance to see original illustrations for your favorite books including Where the Wild Things Are, In the Night Kitchen, The Sign on Rosie’s Door, and the Nutshell Library.

Wild Things is named after Sendak’s Where the Wild Things Are, the beloved children’s book he authored in 1963 that became a cultural touchstone. The exhibition’s title signals to all the beauty, whimsy, and mischief that his art inspired over his 65-year career. You’ll see unique examples of Sendak’s timeless art, such as the final artworks for Where the Wild Things Are, and get a sense of his extraordinary skill and his deep understanding of the process of creating picture books and designs for the stage, television, and film productions. It will also include set designs for the Where the Wild Things Are opera and the costumes for the live-action, feature-length film.

This is a can’t miss exhibition for all ages! And don’t miss The Wild Studio for some hands-on artmaking or check out a performance of Art Emergency: Sendak Edition on select days (additional fees apply for the performance).

Only at the Denver Art Museum for a limited time. Tickets are FREE for ages 0-5 and only $5 for youth (ages 6-18). Adult tickets start at $24. Buy your tickets today at denverartmuseum.org!
